CELTIC GOALKEEPERS
PROGRAM OVERVIEW
Our dedicated Goalkeeping staff provides a training environment designed to help individual players develop the essential technical, tactical, physical and mental skills necessary to improve their performance. Goalkeepers have a unique responsibility as the last line of defense and the starting point for attacks. They need to understand the nuances of the game and be able to communicate clearly with their teammates at a moment’s notice. Palatine Celtic SC offers access to weekly goalkeeper training sessions that focus on each of these concepts.
U8-U10
OVERVIEW
Coaches will require all players to rotate in goal; still emphasizing the importance of technical footwork. If a player expresses interest in the position, the coach and Head of Goalkeeping will workout a plan for training.
FIELD PLAYING TIME
Coaches will require all players to rotate in goal. Players will get ample time on the field.
TRAINING COMMITMENT
Players are required to at least attend half of the Goalkeeper training session each week. Head Goalkeeper coach and Staff Coach can work out arrangements.
U11-U12
OVERVIEW
Players become more focused and start to specialize in the position. Still emphasizing importance of technical footwork.
FIELD PLAYING TIME
Players who want to specialize in GK position will be given opportunity to, however, they will still be expected to have top notch ball mastery.
TRAINING COMMITMENT
You are required to attend weekly training. On the chance that team training and
goalkeeper training fall at the same time, the player is expected to attend goalkeeper training.
U13 and older
OVERVIEW
Player's primary position is Goalkeeper.
FIELD PLAYING TIME
Will primarily play the goalkeeper position, however, may see some field time in certain instances.
TRAINING COMMITMENT
You are required to attend weekly training. Goalkeeper training is prioritized over team training, in the case of conflict.
