Our primary focus is to undergo a player centered development model to produce excellent well rounded players in the game of soccer. Our coaching staff will take a holistic approach to teaching and coaching. While technical proficiency is a highly important part of the Celtic path to success, we also emphasize applying that technique with decision making to produce the most skillful players possible. We want all of our players to develop these traits during their time at Celtic. We believe that an early start with the players and develop along the pathway we have created; our players will develop the above characteristics. Directors and staff implement a curriculum based on these features of our players. Our former Celtic players are well balanced and have continued their soccer careers in NCAA Division I, II, III, and NAIA college programs.
The GK player is a unique position in that is the last line of defense and the first line of offense for a team. At Palatine Celtic, we take great pride in teaching everyone this position at an early age so they are well rounded and are able to adapt by seeing the entire field. The information in the document below will help give parents a quick overview of our club philosophy of the position and the importance of it as a soccer player. We will encourage players who play this position throughout the game to communicate to their teammates, distribute the ball with their feet (pass) and hands (roll or throw) and be an option for a pass back for support to keep possession.
